Ideas and Inspiration
In November ‘05, The T.V. program New England Dream House featured Samantha’s own kitchen renovation program. Most busy moms find that getting in and out of their house is somewhat like conducting an orchestra. We’ve found a way to make the process faster and easier for you and your family. Adding a mudroom or “staging area” to your home helps contain and organize the everyday clutter that comes with being a busy family on the go! See the great before & after photos or the segment by clicking here. Here are some helpful tips to get you thinking about your own staging needs 1. Staging areas come in all different shapes and sizes, but two things are key; storage and organization. To determine what you need, begin by doing your homework. Collect photos from magazines and friends of what type of design you like….and don’t like. 2. Track your families habits (ie: coats on the floor, keys on the counter) and determine what could be added to the staging area to make it just as convenient for them to be placed in their proper place. By adding hooks, you can hang most bags, coats, hats, keys and dog leashes. 3. Design for the future. You may need a spot for toys today but books and backpacks could be just around the corner. 4. Add baskets to help organize items which need to be returned such as a friend’s casserole dish, your library books or video rentals.
